Workshops

Our workshops are offered by trained and experienced facilitators in a safe and caring environment.  Workshops use a variety of methods to effectively involve adult learners, including  group discussions, role plays, home exercises, guided readings, and audio/video presentations.

Please read the designated sections below to get information on our Family Education & Personal Growth Workshops being offered by Family Service Regina.

Clubs, churches, schools, community associations, and businesses interested in offering local workshops for their members are invited to contact Family Service Regina at 757-6675.

Please Note:  Participation in our workshops can be educational and beneficial to the learner; however, these sessions are not intended to replace personal counseling or therapeutic treatment of people with serious psychological, social or relationship problems.  Furthermore, workshop participation does not imply any particular qualification or certification of the learner by Family Service Regina.

Effective Communication Skills: Learn basic, practical communication sskills to help you become a more effective communicator. Barrier and strategies associated with listening, checking your perception and verbal communication will all be explored.. March 21

Putting Communication Skills to Work: Conflict in personal/professional relationships is often unavoidable. This course allows you to learn about the different conflict styles and to apply practical communication skills to improve your relationships. Focus is on practicing skills to improve your communication style.  March 22

Authentic Self Esteem: Discover and explore the beginning steps to building your personal and social well-being. March 14

To be an Anchor: Gain the knowledge and an understanding about the dangers, effects of domestic violence and how to be a healthy support for someone in need. April 23

 

 

 Ongoing Programs

Building Effective Skills to Cope with AngerParticipants will be provided with basic techniques to diffuse, constructively cope with and manage their anger and behavior.  Mondays 7- 9pm. $100 per person. January 23- February 13 or March 19 - April 16 or May 28 - June 18. Please call to register.

 Improve Your Mood: Coping with Depression & Anxiety: Enhance your understanding of depression and anxiety and develop tolls that will improve your mood and increase your quality of life. 7-9 pm. Wednesdays March 28 - May 2. $120 per person. Please call to register.

Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends: Based o Bruce Fisher's book, rebuild your life after spearation/divorce by exploring different stages of self growth. Tuesdays, February 28 - April 17. $120 per person. $25 for book (can supply your own if you have it. 7:00 - 9:00 pm.
  
Prepare and Enrich: Computer based questionnaire for couples wo assess strengths and areas of growth in their relationship (this is not couples counselling)  By appointment only. Please call to register.

Choices for Change: Group treatment for men to change the abusive behaviors towards their intimate partner.  By appointment only. Please call to register.

 *Pre-Registration is required. Family Service Regina reserves the right to cancel/reschedule workshops due to low registration. To drop out, seven days notice before the course start is required otherwise 20% of the course shall be charged. No refunds once the course has began.

Programs Provided at no cost to the client:

When Love Hurts: A 10 week educational group for women ages 13-22 who have experienced relationship abuse. (Transportation & child care available; pre-registration required)

Domestic Violence Resource Group: Two informative group sessions that explore the types and impact of abuse, safety, planning and community resources. Pre-registration preferred. Ask for Kelly or Dorothy.

Women's Support Group: A 9 week educational Support group that assists women in achieving and maintaining a self reliant and violence free lifestyle. Pre-registration required. Ask for Kelly or Dorothy

Outreach Drop In Group: A weekly group for adult survivors of abuse that promotes healing and growth every Wednesday from 6:30-9:00 pm except August and 2 weeks in December. No registration required. Ask for Kelly or Sara.

  • Full Name
  • Address & Postal Code
  • Phone Numbers (home & work)
  • Workshop Title(s) and Dates you are registering for

Registration Policies:

  • For people who have criminal charges pending or are awaiting sentencing, participation in this workshop does not replace personal counseling or therapeutic treatment.  Letters indicating proof of attendance will not be issued.
  • Please register at least one week before the workshop starting date.
  • Payment in full is required at time of registration, in person or by mail.
  • The Agency reserves the right to cancel or postpone workshops due to low registrations.  A full refund will be issued.
  • An administration fee of 20% will be charged to participants withdrawing from a workshop.
