Celebrating Stress: Reclaiming the Gift of Humour

Presented by Michael Bayer, MBA

This seminar will examine "bad stress" and how to deal with it using humour. Participants will discover the true meaning and application of humour in the workplace. This seminar will fundamentally change the way you manage your workgroup, increase morale, boost productivity and turbo charge communications. Michael has been dubbed "The Info-tainer" because of his high-energy style which ranges from the inspirational to the irreverent and leads his client through a process of change that creates results. He is the Vice President of Training and Educational Services at the Custom Learning Systems Winnipeg office. Michael is an internationally recognized key note speaker, facilitator, humorist and magician. This is a half day seminar with a registration fee of $75.00.

What is an Employee and Family Assistance Program?

The Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP), is a confidential information, counselling and referral service provided by an employer as a benefit for their employees.

The EFAP is designed to provide employees and their families with direct access to experienced professionals who will help resolve problems or issues before they affect health, family life or job performance.

Through our provincial and national network of professional counsellors, we provide EFAP services on a fee-for-service or contractual basis to a number of organizations across Saskatchewan and Canada. Why Have an Employee & Family Assistance Program?

People face a variety of problems in their daily lives. Individual problems such as emotional distress, financial difficulties, relationship breakdown, child/parenting problems, and addictions can arise in response to the demands and stress of modern living.

Sometimes these problems grow beyond our capacity to cope and when that happens, the resulting anxiety can drain an individual of his or her energy and effectiveness.

How Do I Make an Appointment?

Once a contract is established an employee may access the program by contacting an Employee & Family Assistance Program Counsellor at Family Service Regina. A counsellor will then respond to an inquiry, usually the same day and appropriate sessions will be scheduled. These appointments can take place during the day, evening, or weekend.

*Remember that confidential assistance is available on a 24-hour, 7 days a week basis for a broad range of personal and work-related concerns, for employees and eligible family members.*

Confidential assistance is available for a broad range of personal concerns which may affect you or your family such as:

managing change
relationship issues
depression and/or anxiety
parenting and teen issues
personal and/or job stress
dealing with addictions
elder care and child care
abuse issues
separation and loss
balancing work and family

Family Service Regina offers employers many "value added" services. These include:

Who Provides the Service?

EFAP counsellors have Masters or Doctorate degrees in Social Work or Psychology and a minimum of five years counselling experience. Each is a registered or certified member of his or her professional association. Counsellors receive clinical supervision and professional development opportunities.

Family Service Regina also employs Registered Psychologists. Many Extended Health Benefit Plans require employees to see a Registered Psychologist.

EFAP professional counsellors allow your employees and their families the opportunity to explore their strengths and develop plans to work towards a positive work/life balance. Quality service is assured.

Assured Confidentiality

Our EFAP services are designed to safeguard the privacy and rights of employees. Issues discussed with the counsellor are kept confidential. Family Service Regina counsellors will not release any information to anyone without prior written consent, except where legally required.
