Women's Information & Resource Group
(2 consecutive Monday nights)
To provide information to women who wish to make informed decisions about the effect of violence and abuse on their lifestyles.  To inform women of resources available to them.

Participation in this program is required before entering the Women's Support Group.

Women's Support Group for Victims of Domestic Violence
The Women's Support Group for Victims of Domestic Violence meets once a week for 14 weeks.  This is a closed group of women who have attended the resource group and gone through an interview process with the group facilitators.  At the interview, participants identify behaviours they would like to work on in themselves.

This is a working group of education, therapy, and support.  The participants are given practical assignments each week to help them improve areas such as self-esteem, feelings, stress, grief, anger, and assertiveness.  Topics vary with each set of groups according to the needs of the women.

This is a support group where participants exchange phone numbers and are encouraged to meet with each other during the week.  Through outside activities and phone calls they support one another through change.  The participants are also encouraged to initiate and practice self-care, to see a counsellor regularly to help with issues that surface in group, and to be honest with themselves as they work at changing.

When Love Hurts
