Counsellors at Family Service Regina deal with a wide range of issues.  We have counsellors who specialize in a number of different areas, which include:

  • supporting individuals, couples, and families with relationship issues
  • working with children with behavioral and emotional problems
  • assisting persons with depression and anxiety disorders
  • supporting people through loss and grief
  • working with victims of childhood sexual/physical abuse and trauma
  • guiding parents in dealing with parent-child conflicts
Family, couple, individual and/or group therapy may be used to address issues such as:
  • communication
  • relationship building
  • parent-teen conflict
  • anger and stress reduction
  • sexual abuse
  • compulsive disorders
  • managing depression
  • grief and bereavement issues
  • parenting
  • assertiveness
  • conflict resolution
  • separation and loss

  • coping skills around maintaining self-esteem

This is not a comprehensive list of issues but provides a general idea of the concerns presented.

During the past year, over 80% of people were accommodated who needed counselling.  Others were referred to more suitable community services in Regina.  With new practices for intake, an increase in priority counselling spots, and appropriate referrals, we strive to create an increased managability regarding the waiting period for appointments.
